I wrote this in 2007, when government "decided" that Traditional Healers should be put out of business because Doctors are qualified to treat people. Slowly over the past 12 years the rights of Sangomas and Shamans and Reiki Masters and others, to heal, have been eroded in South Africa and in this world.
Intuition is the art of tapping into the SuperConscious. If Doctors are not taught intuition and are not taught nutrition, then they aren't learning how to treat the whole. Mostly doctors work in part, eg Dentist, Orthodontist, Maxilo Facial Surgeon, Plastic Surgeon, Speech Therapist, and this is just for the mouth.
And a Directed Pressure Point Technique (DPPT) Practitioner can solve lower back pain better than (m)any operation(s).
The government did not respond to my letter ...

Dear Sir/Madam
Re: 6 No. 30374 GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 19 OCTOBER 2007
REGULATIONS DEFINING THE SCOPE OF THE PROFESSION OF PSYCHOLOGY
I feel privileged to be in the
fortunate position of being in both the solar world of logic and standards and
in the lunar world of intuition. I have studied at university for 6 years to
attain a computer science honours degree and an MBA. Later I found that I had
an ability to heal people and after a lot of research and reading studied Usui
Reiki for 2 and a half years with Shanu van der Berg, who has a degree in
psychology, is a Reiki Master, a Tai Chi teacher, and who is currently studying
Chinese Medicine. I have found that my ability to program computers and fix
organisations is complemented by my ability to unprogram, ie heal people and
organisations. I believe that the ability to intuitively find one’s way to an
answer is as accurate at the ability to logically find a way to an answer. I
believe that it is possible to heal a person with reiki, aromatherapy,
crystals, with the use of sacred symbols, with a deep understanding of the
issues involved, and like our health minister, I believe that if one changes
one’s diet, one can have a long term effect on one’s health. I believe in
all the other complementary healing processes like iridiology, homeopathy,
chiropracting, directed pressure point, kinesiology, massage, diet, retreats,
kabbalah, accupuncture, reflexology, shangaans, and not only this, but we find
references to incenses, spices, aromatherapy, energy and crystal healing in the
Bible, I-Ching and other philosophies.
It seems to apply to psychology
only. Ie “psychology” means the “profession of a person registered as a
psychologist in terms of the act.” We don’t use “a recognised scientific
system.” We don’t use “psychological scientific methods.” We don’t try to
ascertain people’s intellectual abilities, aptitude, personality make up in
terms of scientific method. We don’t use “prescribed questionnaires.” The board
will state which tests are for use by registred psychologists. So not
applicable for us. We don’t use hypnotherapy. By scientific method I assume the
government means Western scientific method.
We only need to therefore concern
ourselves with sections 2 (h) and (i) as follows:
2 (h) the use of any
psychotherapeutic method, technique or procedure to rectify, relieve or change
personality, emotional, behavioural or adjustment problems or mental
eficiencies of individuals or groups of people;
2 (i) the use of any psychological
method or psychological counselling to prevent personality, emotional,
cognitive, behavioural and adjustment problems or mental illnesses of
individuals or groups of people.
We need to decide if Reiki, etc, are
“psychotherapeutic method”’s in terms of the definition of psychology. We need
to decide if we provide “psychological counselling” in terms of the definition
of psychology. A psychologist is “a specialist in psychology.” We need to find
out what the government means by psychology as against what the scientific and
university community means by psychology. As psychology is defined as the
“science of the mind”, I think that the healing community falls outside this as
we define ourselves in terms of the “art of the mind”.
If healers aren’t allowed to heal,
then can Doctors heal? Or will there need to be another law to allow Doctors to
heal? Healing is defined as “make healthy, whole, or sound.” The Hippocratic
Oath will also need to be modified as it refers to “Apollo, and all the
gods and goddesses” as well as providing free teaching to those who need it and
not to prescribe deadly drugs, etc. What about chemotherapy and radiation which
kill?
With this new law, the government
intends to put 1000’s of people out of work!! Meanwhile citizens of South
Africa don’t care about the law and behave as they please!
Besides Eastern Healing, the whole
black community will be up in arms because of the way they get their healing.
This is obviously a plot by doctors
and the pharmaceutical industry who feel that their livelihoods are being
threatened because alternative healing works!! One of the reasons is that most
Western style doctors in South Africa don’t treat the patient as a complete
living energy system, but rather work for pharmaceutical companies and
hospitals by simply prescribing pills or operations instead of trying to solve
the underlying problems.
My iridiology homeopath who has
invested hundreds of thousands of rands in equipment won’t be pleased. Neither
will the people I know who have spent R65,000 on aura cameras and associated
equipment.
If the government are going to
enforce this kind of legislation, we are well on the path to a communist state.
I.T. (computer) professionals will be next. I did a 4 year Computer Science
Honours degree. People who do not have degrees should, in terms of the latest
government thinking, not be able to practice because they don’t have an
established certificate. I estimate that only 15% of the IT community have IT
degrees. What happens to IT capability in South Africa if only 15% of the
current employees can do their jobs? How does this law fit in with our
constitution?
I look forward to your considered response
to these questions and points and trust that your sense of objectivity will
override the any concerns you might have which have caused you to put this
article in the government gazette. I would also appreciate you letting me know
what these concerns are and why we need this kind of legislation.
Yours faithfully,
David Lipschitz
