Living off grids - taking responsibility for ourselves

Dear All Believe it or not we live in a communistic (note that I define Communism, Capitalism, Socialism, differently to other people) World. It might not be "Communist" in the original sense, ie where a small group of people own everything, but today in our western world, a relatively small group owns everything. This is called centralisation and is supposed to be good and efficient. But is it? Most of us are slaves with "no free time" in a centralised world with centralised farms providing food to centralised organisations withcentralised warehouses. The centralised warehouses send their produce to centralised supermarkets and shopping centres. We get into our transport bought from centralised manufacturers and pay for fuel from centralised oil companies. We maintain our transport (cars) by using centralised (in many cases) maintenance organisations. Once we get our food, we refrigerate it and store it and pay centralised utilities for our electricity....

How South Africa can take advantage of clean energy

Dear all (I'm sorry that this blog entry got so long (it took me most of today (8th March) to write), but there is so much to report on after my trip to the USA. I have left it as it is and will try to answer any questions you may have as a result of reading this email as best I can.) Here is an index of the email: 1) Introduction 2) My Visit to the USA 3) South Africa's Goals And My Needs 4) Clean Coal (and Pea Soup Fog)? 5) Cape Town's Population Explosion 6) R1 Trillion 7) The technology is already available 8) What can we do? 9) Turning DREAMs into Reality 1) Introduction "Even if all greenhouse gases stabilised at today's levels, the global climate would change for several decades because of the presence of these gases in the atmosphere." Environment Writer; Cape Times, 4th March 2009; page 4. The government says it wants our "carbon emissions to peak between 2020 and 2025." Melanie Gosling; Cape Times, 4th March 2009; page 4. DREAM (Double Renewable Energy in AMerica in 3 years) (Bo 5769)

This week's parashah (section of the Bible Jews read this week) continues with the plagues and miracles. G-d tells Moses to Go and tell Pharaoh to "let my people go ", i.e. FREE my people. But Pharaoh is enjoying the slavery of the people and incredibly so are the people! It takes the death of the firstborn of Egypt (Mitzrayim - the "dark" place where one finds oneself before one emerges into the light (enlightenment)) to make the Israelites (children of Israel (Jacob)) and Pharaoh realise that real change is afoot . Last week I dealt with this slavery, the miracles that are happening daily in my life and the plagues that we are currently faced on our fragile planet, which we call Earth. I am go ing to America. Here is my story of why I am going, what I will do and what you can expect from me when I get back. I will be away for 3 weeks from 9th February 2009 until 1st March 2009 and will be traveling firstly to Phoenix, Arizona for 2 weeks; and then...

Barak Obama, Yes We Can, Wins (written 5th November 2008)

Dear all An African in the White House. An African American. Our Hope. Hatikva: The Hope. Perhaps the hope of the world. The Mayans predicted that we are currently in the fifth night, where the lessons of the fifth day happen, and where in the sixth day which starts next Tuesday, 11th, we actually start embracing the change. The sixth day is "the darkest hour" of each of the 9 cycles (which have 7 days and 6 nights) in the Mayan Calendar. The current change is a movement from Power to Ethics. As a socialist capitalist, ie a person who believes that the profits made by a capitalist system, which strives for efficiency and effectiveness, must be shared and that debts must be paid off or managed, I welcome this change to an Age of Ethics. The Bible says that some people are given wealth and the ability to make money. They have the associated responsibility to share some of it, as well as to lead by example. BTW, if you search for Mayan Prophecy you will encounter doomsday...

Saving the South African Economy

Letter written to the Cape Town newspapers: ... David is a scientist and Reiki Master with a Masters in Business Administration who helps people and organisations to heal. For more information please contact David at david@ceo-reiki.com. Dear Editor The Cape Times' "Rate Cuts Could Lift Rand" on 14th January 2009 and the South African Reserve Bank's (SARB's) recent statement that they are bringing the interest rate announcement forward a week refers. As a healer working with companies and individuals, I am finding more and more distressed organisations and families in South Africa. The common perception is that the worldwide slowdown is not effecting South Africa. However I believe that this is a myth and that in the next few months 1000's of businesses will close and tens of 1000's of jobs will be lost. There is a lot of goodwill in South Africa with business owners investing in their own businesses, but at some point this will stop and South Africa wi...

Ask the South African Reserve Bank for Bailout Money - Inform them of a looming crisis

Dear all The SARB and local banks are pretending that there is no problem in South Africa, possibly because they don't have visibility of a looming crisis which can possibly be avoided or at least mitigated if managed well. If you are bailing out your own company, then please write to Mr Tito Mboweni at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). I suggest stating that you have put x into the company over a certain time period and that you would like the SARB to also put x into the company, essentially to keep you going. Advise the SARB how many employees you have, what your turnover has been for the past 3 years, what your employee count was at the end of each year and what your projected turnover is for 2009 and expected number of employees in December 2009. Remind the SARB that in South Africa, there are typically up to 10 people dependent on each employee and that if the SARB don't help you out, then the government's ability to pay unemployment benefits at some point will...

David's analysis of 2008 and how we can prepare for 2009

The South African Reserve Bank finally started reducing interest rates by .5%. You can read the full SARB report at http://www.reservebank.co.za/ Here is some food for thought: (perhaps a conspiracy theory?) THE SUBPRIME CRISIS: During the past decade the United States firstly told Freddie and Fannie, their two biggest mortage lenders to lend money to people who shouldn't be loaned money, i.e. people with bad credit records; people who couldn't get credit; bankrupt people etc. This money to be used for buying houses. These people are called sub-prime borrowers. On March the 8th this year I wrote a detailed Blog entry called: Sub Prime Crisis; renewables; the price we pay; what you can do. Then they reduced interest rates to 1%. At 1% people bought houses and maybe were paying $83 per month on a $100,000 house. (Compare that with South Africans who would have been paying $1250 per month at 15%). Remember these people are already on the edge. Then the government increases in...
